Elkins-Randolph County Public Library

The Summer Reading Program is intended to encourage reading throughout the break from structured classroom instruction.  The program will include reading activities, special productions, crafts, digital learning and games.  In an effort to make the program accessible to all children in Randolph County, we have decided to make activities available during all library hours, and open to all ages.

Prizes will be awarded periodically throughout the Summer Break, and a celebration is planned for all participants just before their return to school.

We hope you will join us for the following weeks' LIBRARIES ROCK ACTIVITIES!

More about the 2018 Summer Reading Program

Libraries Rock Summer Reading Program encourages reading, investigation, creativity, and learning through reading activities, craft-making, and imaginative programs.

The Elkins-Randolph County Public Library invites you to follow these steps to be rewarded with improved studies, quality family time, prizes, and interactive fun for the whole summer!

Step 1:  Start with BINGO!

Each week will have a new theme that pertains to LIBRARIES ROCK!  From Geology to Caving to Rock-N-Roll and music instruments, we challenge you complete FIVE READING ACTIVITIES prior to attending.  Turn in a completed card with one activity in each column that forms the BINGO pattern, and be entered for prizes!    Pick up the first BINGO card at the library or participating business starting June 5th, complete the activities and bring with you during the first week, June 11-16.

Step 2:   Come On In!

Stop in the library each week and turn in your completed BINGO card.  Then complete the activities set up throughout the library that week.  Each activity completed will enter you again for prizes.  Take a numbered card from each station to the circulation desk to enter!

Step 3:   Rock Your Mascot!

If you complete All the Activities, you can add to your school's Rockin' Readers board.  Turn in activity cards to the Circulation Desk and receive a color-coded shape in your school's mascot to add to the board.  The school with the most participation at the end of the summer break will receive a prize!

Step 4:  Get Your Next Bingo Card!

Don't forget to get a BINGO Card for the nest week's prize entry and activities!  That's It!  Complete the new card and come in next week when it is convenient to participate again.
